The church has a variety of members which forms the body of Jesus Christ. There are the physical body parts, such as the hands, feet, eyes, ears. Also, the body parts on the inside of the body, which are the heart, lungs, skeleton, veins, and blood. Each of these parts function on its own, but united to serve the church community. Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, â€Å"They all have an identity of their own only as members of the body, as a community that serves in unity. The unity of the church community gives identity and meaning to each individual and to the community as a whole, Just as Christ and the body give identity and meaning to the church community.† It is the intent of the paper show the different body parts of the church that make up†¦show more content†¦Acts 6:1-6 describes how the church became an organization; when mummers started, because people felt their needs was not being taken care of. For this reason, the office of deacon was made to take care of the natural needs of the church. The same can be said for the church today. While the deacons are taking care of the natural needs of the church; the evangelist, preachers, elders, apostles, ministers, can be making disciples to do God’s work. This paper is not about deacons, it just showing one of the ways leaders of the church are freed to take care of spiritual matters, such as making disciples. Paul said in Ephesians 4:11-12, â€Å"And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.† Part of the work of ministry is, making disciple to do the work of Jesus Christ. With this in mind the Church, the body of Jesus Christ have to be involved in making disciples. Rod Dempsey writes, â€Å"The church must be in the absolute middle of God’s global plan of making disciples.† Christian Community: The Christian community is made up of a body of believers.
